Repairing Climatronic - additional heat exchanger
  Note
First remove rear side trim. → Rep. Gr.70
   
1 - Operating and display unit for Climatronic air conditioning system -E87- with Climatronic control unit -J255-
2 - Housing for heating and ventilation for rear seats, intake side
q   Assemble with clips
q   Removing → Fig.
3 - Temperature flap for passenger compartment
4 - Heat exchanger for rear seats
5 - Housing for heating and ventilation for passenger compartment, vent side
q   Assemble with clips
q   Removing → Fig.
6 - Rear fresh air blower control unit -J391-
q   Checking: read and clear fault memory via self-diagnosis → Chapter
q   Replacing → Fig..
7 - Rear fresh air blower -V80-
q   Checking: read and clear fault memory via self-diagnosis → Chapter
8 - Rear temperature flap control motor -V137-
q   Checking: read and clear fault memory via self-diagnosis → Chapter
q   Removing → Fig.
9 - Coolant hoses
10 - Rear vent temperature sender -G174-
q   Checking: read and clear fault memory via self-diagnosis → Chapter
q   Removing → Fig.

   
Removing air distribution housing
–  Remove rear left side trim → Rep. Gr.70.
–  Pull connectors off rear fresh air blower -V80-, rear temperature flap control motor -V137- and rear fresh air blower control unit -J391-.
–  Clamp off connecting hoses close to heat exchanger using hose clamps and pull off hoses.
–  Remove four bolts -arrows-.
–  If vehicle has 2nd evaporator → Chapter
  Note
Cooling system is pressurized when engine is warm. If necessary, release pressure before carrying out repairs.

Removing rear temperature flap control motor -V137-
–  Remove rear left side trim → Rep. Gr.70.
–  Pull off connector -1- and remove bolts -2-.
–  Pull out temperature flap control motor -3-.

Renewing rear fresh air blower control unit -J391-
–  Remove rear left side trim → Rep. Gr.70.
–  Pull off connector -1- and remove bolt -2-.

Removing rear vent temperature sender -G174-
–  Remove cover -2-.
–  Pull connector off rear vent temperature sender -G174--1-.
–  Turn rear vent temperature sender -G174--1- 90° and remove.
