Draining the refrigerant circuit
Draining the refrigerant circuit
The refrigerant must not be released into the atmosphere; it must be extracted by suction from the refrigerant circuit using specialist equipment. The refrigerant removed is then either to be re-processed on site or returned to the manufacturer for proper disposal (different or additional regulations may apply in other countries). For this reason, the vehicle must be brought to a support workshop dealing with air conditioning systems (these workshops posses the tools and equipment required).
Reason
The refrigerant R134a contributes enormously to the global warming effect if released into the atmosphere.
  Note
t  The greenhouse effect of the refrigerating agent R134a is significantly lower than that of the refrigerating agent R12.
t  Refrigerant R134a does not affect the earth's ozone layer (R134a is an hydrofluorocarbon with no chlorine atoms). Depletion of the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere is only brought about by the splitting of carbon chlorine bonds (as is the case, for example, with refrigerant R12).
After emptying the air conditioner, separate the connector for the Compressor regulation valve, air conditioning -N280- or of the High pressure sender -G65-.
Reason
The Air compressor regulation valve, air conditioning -N280- is no longer activated and the compressor works slowly. The compressor is made in such a way that when it runs slowly, the lubrication of all compressor elements is guaranteed by an internal oil circuit (while there is sufficient cooling oil in the compressor).
