Removing

• ‒ Remove front and rear exhaust system shields.
• ‒ → Remove reinforcing plate (arrow).

• ‒ Remove gear stick knob with spring.
• ‒ → Pull release for reverse gear -A- with cover -B- off.

• ‒ Lever ashtray out from centre console.
• ‒ → Remove centre console (arrows) and lay to one side, do not separate cable connections.

=> Repair group 68

• ‒ → Detach gate selector cable and gear selector cable from gear stick. to do this push securing mechanism rearwards onto stop (arrow -1-) and turn left to lock (arrow -2-).

• ‒ → Take both cables out from gear stick housing, to do this press both tabs together (arrows).

• ‒ Remove gear stick with gear stick housing.
• ‒ → Lever square head bolts out carefully.
• ‒ Pull rubber seal off gear stick housing base.

• ‒ → Remove spring with arms, to do this lever off washer with screwdriver.

• ‒ → Press off mounting for gear selector cable (arrow -1-) and lever off mounting for gate selector cable (arrow -2-).

• ‒ → Remove gear stick housing upper part (arrows).

• ‒ → Drive out pivot pin for gate selector bracket.
• ‒ Remove gear stick and gate selector bracket.
• ‒ Pull gate selector bracket off gear stick.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

→ Installing spring with arms in gear stick housing:

• ‒ The larger angled part -A- points away from gear stick housing.
• ‒ Both spring arms each pass the gate selector bracket -B- and are inserted into cut-outs in gear stick housing.
• ‒ Then turn spring over to left (direction of arrow) so that area -A- points towards gear stick housing.

→ Installation position:

The larger angled part -A- of spring is located under the smaller angled part -B-.

• ‒ → Before inserting the gear selector cable tongued piece and the gate selector cable tongued piece into their relevant mountings press gear stick jig in onto stop.
• ‒ Then secure gear stick jig, to do this press both tabs (arrows) outwards.
