Removing and installing tandem pump
Removing and installing tandem pump

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pressure pump -SAT 1390-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Base -T20174-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
   
–  Disconnect the fuel supply hose -1- (white mark) and return hose -2- (blue marking) from the fuel filter.
–  Connect the pressure / vacuum pump -SAT 1390- with the purge tank -SAT 1390/1- to the return hose.
–  Operate the pump until no more fuel comes out of the flexible return tube. Ensure that fuel does not enter into the manual pump.

–  Disconnect the low pressure tube -1- of the brake servo from the tandem pump -4-.
–  Disconnect the flexible feed tube -2- (white mark) from the tandem pump -4-.
–  Unscrew the attachment bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove the tandem pump -4- from the cylinder head.

–  Lift the tandem pump -4-, disconnect the flexible return tube -3- (blue mark) and remove the tandem pump -4-.
Installing
Install in reverse order to dismantling, noting the following:
  Note
t  Ensure that the connection for the tandem pump is correctly seated on the camshaft.
t  Replace the tandem pump seals.
–  Connect the flexible return tube -3- (blue mark) to the return connection on the tandem pump.
–  Fit the tandem pump and tighten the upper attachment bolts to 20 Nm.
–  Tighten the lower attachment bolts to 10 Nm.
–  Connect the flexible feed tube -2- (white mark) to the feed connection and the low pressure tube -1- of the brake servo to the tandem pump -4-.

–  Connect the fuel supply hose -1- (white mark) to the fuel filter.
–  Connect the return hose -2- (blue marking) of the fuel filter to the pressure / vacuum pump -SAT 1390- with the bleeder tank -SAT 1390/1-.
–  Operate the manual pump until fuel comes out of the fuel return hose. Ensure that fuel does not enter into the manual pump.
–  Connect the flexible return tube -2- (blue mark) to the fuel filter.
