Removing and installing oil sump > < Engine oil

1 - Oil dipstick
q   Oil level must not be above max. mark on dipstick!
q   Marks → Fig.
2 - Camshaft housing
3 - Sealing cap
q   Replace gasket if it shows signs of damage.
4 - Retaining valve
5 - Oil seal
q   Replace if damaged
6 - Oil separator
q   To remove, intake manifold must be removed → Chapter.
q   Install with sealant D 176 501 A1
7 - 9 Nm
8 - 0.3 … 0.6 bar oil pressure switch -F1-.
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
q   Checking oil pressure switch → Chapter.
9 - Electric connector
10 - Oil filter
q   Observe installation instructions on oil filter.
q   Remove and install with oil filter tool -3417-.
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
11 - Oil pan
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Clean sealing surface before installing
q   Install with silicone sealant D 176,501 A1 → Chapter
12 - 8 Nm and then turn 90° further
q   Replace
13 - Suction pipe
q   With integrated seal.
14 - 8 Nm
15 - Oil seal
q   Replace if damaged
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
16 - 20 Nm
17 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm
q   With safety washer
q   Replace
18 - Oil pump:
q   Always replace completely
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
19 - 8 Nm and then turn 90° further
q   Replace
20 - Seal
q   Replace

   
Markings on oil dipstick
1 - max. marking
2 - min. marking
a - Zone between upper ridge of marked area and max. mark: do not add oil
b - The level is found in the marked area: oil can be refilled
c - Zone between lower edge of marked area and min. mark: add at most, 0.5 l of oil
