Intake manifold: removing and installing
Intake manifold: removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
  W00-0427
t  Pressing-off lever -80 - 200-
Carry out the following work:
Removal:
  W00-0353
–  Press locking lugs -arrows- and pull intake connection off -1- in -direction of arrow-.
  N15-10721
–  Disconnect hose -1- at air cleaner housing.
–  Pull air filter housing upwards off studs at positions -2- and -3-.
–  Move lock carrier to service position → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.

–  Release connector -2- and unplug.
–  Disconnect hose -3- from throttle valve module -J338-.
–  Disconnect line -4-.

–  Release plug connectors -1- and -2- and pull off.
–  Unclip wiring harness from retainers -3- on fuel rail and lay to side.
–  Unclip line -4- from retainers -arrows-.
–  Remove line -4- together with activated charcoal filter system solenoid valve 1 -N80- and lay to side.
–  Remove fuel rail together with injectors and lay to side → Chapter.
  Note
t  The fuel line does not need to be disconnected.
t  Do not remove injectors from fuel rail.

–  Remove wiring harness -1- from retainers -arrows- on intake manifold.

–  Remove vacuum line -1- from intake manifold -2-.

–  Unscrew lower bolt -arrow- from intake manifold.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove intake manifold -1-.
–  If intake manifold is to be renewed, remove throttle valve module -J338- → Chapter.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal. Note the following:
–  Ensure proper seating of gaskets.

Tightening torque:
ComponentSpecified torque .
Upper bolts on intake manifold → Item. 
Lower bolts on intake manifold → Item.20 Nm
