  Note
t  Note the use-by date of the sealant.
t  Sump and sump cover must be installed within 5 minutes of applying silicone sealing compound.
t  To make fitting the sump easier, M6 threaded studs can be placed in 2 points on the cylinder block flange.
   
–  Cut off tube nozzle at forward marking (nozzle diameter: approx. 3 mm).

–  Apply silicone sealing compound, as shown, to the clean sump sealing surface. The sealing compound bead should be:
t  2 … 3 mm thick
t  and run on inside of bolt holes -arrows-.
  Note
The sealing compound bead must not be thicker, otherwise excessive sealing compound could enter the sump and block the oil suction pipe strainer.
–  Install sump immediately and lightly tighten all the sump bolts.
–  Tighten the bolts on the sump.
   Tightening torque:: 10 Nm + (90°).
–  Tighten the sump securing bolts to the gearbox
   Tightening torque: 45 Nm.

–  Apply silicone sealing compound, as shown in the figure, to clean sump sealing surface. The sealing compound bead should be:
t  2 … 3 mm thick
t  and run on inside of bolt holes -arrows-.
  Note
The sealing compound bead must not be thicker, otherwise excessive sealing compound could enter the sump and block the oil suction pipe strainer.
–  Install sump cover immediately and tighten all sump bolts lightly.
–  Tighten the bolts on the sump cover.
   Tightening torque: 15 Nm.
–  Fit the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
   Tightening torque: 40 Nm.
  Note
After installing sump cover, the sealant must be allowed to dry for approx. 30 minutes. After this time has passed, the sump may be filled.
