  Note!
To carry out these work sequences, the battery earth strap must be disconnected. To do so, first check if the vehicle has a coded radio installed, and if necessary, check the anti-theft coding.
–  The engine is removed from above with the gearbox.
–  With ignition off, disconnect the battery earth strap.
  Note!
All cable holders which come loose or break when removing the engine should be reinstalled in the same place during engine installation.
–  Remove the right articulated half shaft, remove the securing bolts and hang up.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
Vehicles with power assisted steering
–  Suspend the power assisted steering reserve tank. If necessary, remove the support from the bodywork.
–  Remove the securing bolts for the power assisted steering vane pump, and fasten pump with wire to the engine support or the engine unit carrier; the hoses are connected → Running gear; Rep. Gr.48.
Vehicles with an air conditioner
–  Follow the additional indications and assembly work sequences → Chapter.
   
–  Fasten lifting hook -U-30034- and carefully lift with workshop jack.
–  Disconnect the clutch control cable → 5-speed manual gearbox 085; Rep. Gr.30.
–  Loosen the bolts which fasten the engine unit to the gearbox and engine supports.
–  Remove the engine unit from above.
  Note!
The engine unit should be handled carefully upon removal, to avoid damage to the bodywork.
–  To assemble the engine, it must be fixed to the rotary trestle -AR-2204 A- with the help of the holding flanges -T20082-.
