Electric accelerator control fault lamp: check
Electric accelerator control fault lamp: check
  Note!
The electric accelerator control fault lamp -K132- is also called the EPC control warning lamp.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/31-
t  Manual multimeter -V.A.G 1526- or Multimeter -V.A.G 1715-
t  Auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594 A-
t  Wiring diagram
Check conditions
   
l  Fuses 1 and 2 should not be a problem.
l  Battery voltage, at least 11.5 V
Check the operation of the warning lamp
–  Switch on the ignition.
  N01-0220
–  The EPC warning lamp should light up.
–  Start the engine and let it idle. The EPC warning lamp should go out when it has not memorised and electronic accelerator error.
–  Switch off the ignition
The electric accelerator warning lamp does not light up
  E01-0006
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1598/31- test box to the control unit wiring harness. Do not connect the control unit.
–  Connect female contacts 2+73 of the check box with auxiliary cables -V.A.G 1594 A-.
–  Switch on the ignition. The warning lamp should light up.
If it does not light up:
–  Switch off the ignition.
–  Check the dash panel and its voltage supply: → Electric system; Rep. Gr.90.
If no fault is found:
–  Check for an interruption in the wiring between female contact 73 of the test box and the dash panel, following the wiring diagram: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If no wiring fault is found:
–  Replace the engine control unit → Chapter.
The electric accelerator control fault lamp is lit all the time
  N24-0943
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1598/31- test box to the control unit wiring harness. Do not connect the control unit.
–  Check the wiring between female contact 73 of the test box and the dash panel for a short circuit, following the wiring diagram: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If no wiring fault is found:
–  Replace the engine control unit → Chapter.
