Check the fuel pump non-return valve
Check the fuel pump non-return valve
Checking conditions
l  Remote control -V.A.G 1348/3 A-, connected.
l  Pressure gauge device -V.A.G 1318-, connected.
Checking process
  Note!
This test also checks the watertightness of the fuel supply hose connections, from the supply unit to the point of connection for the pressure measuring device -V.A.G 1318-.

–  Close the valve of the pressure measuring device (with lever perpendicular across flow).
–  Briefly operate the remote control until the manometer shows a pressure of 3 bar.
  Caution
Danger of splashing when valve is opened; place a receptacle in front of the open connection of the manometer.
–  Drain any possible excessive pressure carefully opening the valve.
–  Observe the drop in pressure on the manometer. After 10 minutes, the pressure should not fall below 2 bar.
If the drop in pressure continues:
–  Check the airtightness of the connections.
If no fault is detected in the cables:
–  Faulty fuel pump, renew the fuel supply unit → Chapter, Fuel supply unit: removing and installing.
