General indications relative to the ignition system
  Note!
t  This chapter deals only with the components especially related to the ignition. The other components of the injection and ignition system → Chapter.
t  Before disconnecting and connecting the battery, the ignition must be turned off; if this precaution is not taken, the engine control unit may be damaged.
t  The engine control unit has self-diagnosis.
t  For the perfect functioning of the electrical components a minimum voltage of 11.5 V is required.
t  In some tests the control unit may detect and memorise a fault. Thus, the fault memory must be checked once all the tests and repairs are finished, erasing it if necessary → Chapter.
t  If the engine starts up for a moment and then turns itself off after locating the faults and repairing or checking components, this may be due to the fact that the immobiliser blocks the engine control unit. In such circumstances, the fault memory must be consulted and, if necessary, the control unit adapted → Chapter.
Safety measures → Chapter.
Testing information, spark plugs → Chapter.
