Installing
Prerequisites
l  Prevent dirt and sealant remnants from entering cylinder head.
l  Clean sealing surface, must be free from oil or grease.
l  When installing the cylinder head cover or the camshaft the cams for No. 1 cylinder must point upwards.
l  The pistons must not be positioned at TDC.
–  Remove sealant remnants on cylinder head and camshaft cover with a commercially available sealant remover.
–  Install support element onto cylinder head and fit respective roller rocker arm onto relevant valve end and support element.
   
–  Ensure all roller rocker arms contact the ends of the valve stems -1- correctly and are clipped into their respective support elements -2-.
–  Oil the camshaft contact surfaces on the cylinder head bearings.
–  Fit camshaft.

–  Apply a thin even coat of sealant onto the clean camshaft cover waterproof surface.
  Note!
The sealant must not be applied too thick otherwise excess sealant can enter the oil channels or the camshaft housing and cause damage to the engine.

–  Carefully open the cylinder head cap vertically from above in the drills holes that are equidistant from the cylinder head with the adjustment pins -arrows-.
  Note!
t  Fitting and securing the cylinder head cover must be completed without a pause, as the sealing surfaces start to dry immediately it comes into contact.
t  The bolts for the cylinder head cover must be renewed.
  E15-0061
–  Tighten the bolts in pos. 1 and 2 alternating clockwise at a torque of 6 Nm.
–  Then tighten the other bolts in the stated sequence to 6 Nm.
–  Then finally tighten all bolts a 1/4 turn (90°) further.
  Note!
Sealant must be left dry for approx. 30 minutes after installing cylinder head cover.
–  Install new camshaft oil seals → Chapter.
The rest of the assembly is basically a reverse of the dismantling sequence.
Installing toothed belt and adjusting timing → Chapter.
–  Read fault memories of all control units → Diagnostics operations unitVAS 5051.
–  Carry out test drive and read fault memories of all control units again.
