Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Wrench kit -3337-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.

Removal:
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.

Altea - Altea XL - Leon
–  Disconnect electrical connection -4- for lambda probe -G39-.
  A23-10003
Ibiza
–  Disconnect electrical connection -4- for lambda probe -G39-.
  N26-10416
All other vehicles continued
–  Unscrew the lambda probe -G39--3- using the tool from the tool set e/c 17 -3337-.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following:
  Note
t  The screw thread on the new lambda probe is coated with a special paste; the paste must not get into the slots on the probe body.
t  With used lambda probes, heat the bolt before coating with paste. The paste must not get into the slots on the probe body. For high-temperature paste refer to → Parts catalogue.
t  When installing, the Lambda probe wiring must always be re-attached at the same locations (under all circumstances) to prevent it from coming into contact with the exhaust pipe.
