  Note
The battery voltage and the diesel fuel temperature have a great influence on the current draw of the fuel pump. For this reason ensure that the battery voltage is at least 12 V whilst checking and the diesel fuel temperature does not fall to the freezing point.
Test prerequisites
l  Battery voltage at least 12 V
l  Diesel fuel temperature above 10 °C
Altea - Altea XL - Leon
–  Remove rear right seat → Bodywork - Interior fitting work; Rep. gr.72.
–  Detach carpet under seats and fold it back.
–  Remove cover of fuel delivery unit.
Ibiza
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.
–  Remove cover of fuel delivery unit.

All other vehicles continued
–  Extract the connector -A- from the fuel delivery unit.
  N20-10183
–  Fit the adapter -VAS 5565- to the connection and to the fuel delivery unit.
–  Connect the clamp probe -A- to the red cable marked „clamp probe“ of the adapters -VAS 5565-.
  Note
The clamp probe of the digital multimeter -VAG 1715- can also be connected to the red cable marked „clamp probe“ of the adapters -VAS 5565-.
–  Switch on the ignition.
–  Connect the diagnosis device -VAS 505xx- and perform the guided function „electric fuel pump: check “.
  Note
The fuel pump -G6- now runs for approx. 30 seconds.
–  Read off the power consumption on the multimeter -VAG 1526D-: Specification: 7.5 Amps maximum
–  If the measured value is not within specifications:
Altea - Altea XL - Leon
–  Replace fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
Ibiza
–  Replace fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
