Test prerequisites
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V
l  Fuel filter OK.
l  Fuel tank at least. 1/2 full.
l  Ignition off
   
Testing quantity of fuel delivered
–  Loosen the engine cover at the locations -arrows- and remove.
  WARNING
t  Always read rules for cleanliness and instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter.
t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
t  To reduce the pressure in the fuel system, wrap a clean cloth around the connection and carefully loosen the connection.

–  Pull fuel supply line -arrow- off the high-pressure pump.

–  Hold fuel supply line -1- (extend with a suitable hose -2-) in a measuring vessel -3-.
–  Connecting the central diagnosis -VAS 505xx-
–  Switch on the ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Then select „Basic setting“.
–  Select „Checking fuel system pressurisation pump“ from the list.
–  The fuel pump starts up.
–  Allow fuel pump to run for 30 seconds and end activation.
l  Specification of the minimum supply quantity in 30 seconds: at least 600 ml
If minimum delivery rate is not reached, check for the following causes:
t  30 seconds not reached
t  Battery voltage below 12.5 Volts (connect battery charger)
t  Fuel lines disconnected
t  Blocked fuel filter
t  Fuel pump defective: Checking → Chapter „Checking voltage supply of fuel system pressurisation pump -G6-“, → Chapter „Checking current consumption of fuel system pressurisation pump -G6-“
