Safety precautions when working on fuel supply system > < Fuel filter: repairing

Voltage supply of the fuel system pressurisation pump -G6-:
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Manual multimeter -VAG 1526E-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-10706
t  Adapter -VAS 5565-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test prerequisites
l  Fuses must be OK.
l  Battery voltage 12 V
l  All electrical consumers, e.g. lights and rear window heating, must be switched off.
–  Fold rear seat bench forwards.
–  Remove the cover of fuel delivery unit.
–  Switch ignition on. The fuel pump must be heard to run briefly, for approx. 2 seconds.
–  Switch off ignition.
If the fuel pump does not start:
–  Pull connector off fuel delivery unit flange.
–  Connect the adapter -VAS 5565- between the connector and the flange.

–  Connect the multimeter -VAG 1526E- to the contacts -1- and -5- of the adapter.
–  Connect the diagnosis device and perform the guided function „electric fuel pump: check “.
  Note
The fuel pump is now activated for 30 seconds.
–  Read off the voltage value on the multimeter -VAG 1526E-: Specification: about the battery voltage.
If no voltage is present:
–  Check activation of fuel pump relay and wiring for an open or short circuit → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Voltage supply OK.
–  Remove fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
–  Check that electrical wiring between flange and fuel pump is connected and has continuity.
If no open circuit can be found:
–  Renew fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
