| When working on the fuel system, take note of the following: |
WARNING | t
| The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection. |
| t
| Wear protection gloves. |
|
| To avoid personal injury and damage in the preheating and injection system, take note of the following: |
| t
| The electrical wiring of the preheating and injection system (including the tester units) should be connected and disconnected only with the ignition switched off. |
| t
| Always switch off ignition before washing engine. |
| t
| Upon disconnecting electrical connectors faults are registered in the engine control unit: |
| –
| Connecting the central diagnosis -VAS 505X- |
| –
| Select the operating mode „Vehicle self-diagnosis“ |
| –
| Interrogate the event memory. |
Caution | Risk of severe damage to the electronic components when disconnecting the battery. |
| t
| Follow the adapted methods before disconnecting the battery. |
| t
| Always switch off the ignition before disconnecting the battery. |
|
| When working on the coolant system take note of the following: |
WARNING | Hot coolant and vapours can cause burns! |
| t
| When the engine is hot the cooling system is under pressure. |
| t
| To reduce the system charge pressure, cover the expansion tank plug with a rag and open carefully. |
|
| When working on the subframe note the following warnings: |
Caution | Risk of damage to parts of the running gear. |
| t
| Do not let the vehicle down on the wheels if the gearbox mounting, steering box and subframe cross brace are not properly installed. |
| t
| The vehicle must NOT be jacked up by applying a trolley jack or similar to the subframe or subframe cross brace. |

| Note the following if testers and measuring instruments have to be used during a road test: |
WARNING | Risk of suffering an accident due to distraction and for not sufficiently tying down the tester units. |
| Driver airbag activation danger in case of accident. |
| l
| The use of test equipment while driving causes distraction. |
| l
| There is an increased risk of injury if test and measuring equipment is not secured. |
| Always secure testing equipment to the rear seat with a strap and have them operated from there by a second person. |
