Fuel delivery unit: removing and fitting
Fuel delivery unit: removing and fitting
t  Removing → Anchor
t  Fitting → Anchor
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Turning tool -T20207-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
Removing
–  First see if the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, refer to the anti-theft code.
–  Note safety precautions before starting work → Chapter
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth connection from battery.
–  Move rear seat forward.
–  Remove cover from fuel delivery unit under rear seat.
  WARNING
Fuel supply pipes are pressurised. Before detaching the fuel supply pipes, place a cloth around the connection point. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.

–  Separate connector flange -1-, return pipes (blue) -2- and supply pipes (black) -3-, press buttons on fuel hose couplings to do this.

–  Position rotation tool -T20207- on coupling nut and unscrew flange.
–  Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.
  Note
If the fuel delivery unit is to be renewed then drain the old unit before disposal.
Fitting
–  The installation of the fuel delivery unit is carried out in the reverse order.
  Note
t  On fitting the fuel delivery unit, check that the fuel level sender -G-is not bent.
t  Insert seal for fuel delivery unit dry into opening of fuel tank.
t  Moisten seal with fuel only when installing fuel delivery unit.
t  Check that the fuel hoses sit firmly.

t  After installing fuel delivery unit, check that the supply, return -2- and supply -2- pipes are still clipped onto fuel tank.
t  Note the fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange: The marks on the fuel tank and the flange must match -arrows-.
