| Disassembling the engine casing. |

| Remove the vacuum hose from the mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve. |

| Fit to the -V.A.G 1390- manual vacuum pump valve. |

| Operate pump. The membrane must move in the direction of the connection of the vacuum (check by touching from below). |

| Remove the manual vacuum pump hose from the exhaust gas recirculation valve. The closing of the valve should be audible (the membrane moves in the direction of the exhaust manifold). |
