Removing and installing the Exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648- in vehicles with automatic gearbox t  Removing → Anchor t  Fitting → Anchor Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Wrench kit 17 mm -T10395-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Final drive support -T10337- t  Engine and gearbox jack -VAG 1383A-

Removing –  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Disconnect connector -arrow- on exhaust temperature gas 4 -G648- from mount.

–  Unfasten quick release fasteners -1 ... 3- and detach noise insulation (front and rear). –  Remove front exhaust pipe → Chapter.

–  Support gearbox using engine and gearbox jack -VAG 1383A- and the gearbox support -T10337-.

–  First unscrew bolts -1- and -2- and then bolts -3- and -4-.

–  Lower the gearbox using engine and gearbox jack -VAG 1383A- as far as measurement -a-. l  Dimension -a- = 80 mm (maximum)

–  The exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648--Pos. 1-.

–  Disconnect cable strap -1- and -2- on exhaust temperature sensor 4 -G648-. Installing Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: Tightening torque l  → Chapter „Exhaust system in vehicles with automatic gearbox: Assembly overview“. l  → Chapter „Exhaust gas temperature control: Assembly overview (on vehicles with automatic gearbox)“.

–  Mount the cable of the exhaust temperature sensor 4 -G648- and fix with clamps -1- and -2-.   Note Fit cable ties in the original positions when installing.

–  Lift the gearbox using engine and gearbox jack -VAG 1383A- and position the tunnel cross member on the body. t  Always replace the bolts M12 -item 3- and -item 4-, tightening torque: 110 Nm + 90º (is equivalent to a quarter turn). t  Bolts M10 -item 1- and -item 2-, tightening torque: 65 Nm. –  Install the exhaust pipe → Chapter.
