Removing and installing the Exhaust gas temperature sender 4G648 in vehicles with manual gearbox

Removing and installing the Exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648- in vehicles with manual gearbox

t	Removing → Anchor

t	Fitting → Anchor

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Wrench kit 17 mm -T10395-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing

–	Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.

–	Disconnect connector -arrow- on exhaust temperature gas 4 -G648- from mount.

–	Detach the cable clamp -1- of the exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648- using cutting pliers.

Note

Disregard item -2-.

–	Unfasten quick release fasteners -1 ... 3- and detach noise insulation (front and rear).

Caution

Damage danger of decoupling parts on the exhaust input pipe.

Do not bend the flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe more than 10°.

–	The exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648--Pos. 1-.

Installing

Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

l	Tightening torque → Chapter „ Exhaust gas temperature control: Assembly overview (only on vehicles with manual gearbox)“

–	Mount the cable of the exhaust temperature sensor 4 -G648- and fix correctly in its mount together with the clamp -1-.

Note

Disregard item -2-.

Location of the exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648-:

l	Angled end should point to left side of vehicle.

l	Angle -α- = 15 ± 5° to left

Note

Fit cable ties in the original positions when installing.
