Fuel tank: draining
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Fuel pump unit -VAS 5190-, see equivalent → Anchor
Operation process
Proceed as follows:
–  Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
–  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.

–  Remove the cone shaped part -2- of the shaft -1- of the fuel pump unit -VAS 5190-.
–  Use insulating tape to mark the extraction hose -arrow- at a distance of -a- = 1300 mm from the end of the hose.

–  Remove filler cap from fuel filler neck.
–  Screw in the shaft -1- of the fuel pump unit -VAS 5190- to the fuel tank filler support.
–  Push extraction hose into fuel tank until marking on hose -arrow- coincides with shaft end.
–  Extract fuel from tank via fuel filler neck.
–  Pull extraction hose out carefully.

  A20-0702
t  The procedure when using a fuel extractor without shaft end is basically the same.
t  In this case, make a mark -arrow- on the hose at distance -a- = 1,235 mm from end of extraction hose -1- using insulating tape. The extraction hose has been properly inserted when the affixed mark is level with the rim of the filler neck.
t  If hose is difficult to insert, apply a thin coat of engine oil. DO NOT use silicone-based lubricant.
