Event memory of the engine control unit: consulting and erasing

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-, see equivalent → Anchor or central diagnosis -VAS 5052-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Cable 3m. -VAS 5051/5A-, see equivalent → Anchor or cable 5m. -VAS 5051/6B-, see equivalent → Anchor or diagnostic cable -VAS 5052/3A-, see equivalent → Anchor

Operation process

–	Connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 5051/- as follows:

–	Connect the 5m. cable -VAS 5051/6A- to the diagnostic connection.

–	Start engine and run at idling speed.

Only when engine does not start:

–	Switch on ignition.

–	Press button on display for „Vehicle self-diagnosis“.

Select vehicle system:

–	Press button „01 - Engine electronics“ on display.

The display indicates the control unit identification and the coding of the engine control unit.

Select diagnostic function

–	Press „02 - Read fault memory“ button on the display.

–	If no fault is stored in engine control unit „0 fault(s) detected“ is displayed.

–	If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they are shown one below the other on the display.

–	Press the ← button.

–	Press „05 - Delete fault memory“ button on the display.

–	Press „06 - End output“ function.
