Checking compression
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Spanner -3122B-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor -T40039-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Compression tester -VAG 1763-, see equivalent → Anchor

Procedure
  Note
t  Engine oil temperature min. 30 ℃
t  Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
   
–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.
–  Remove bolts from connector rail for ignition coils.
  E10-10100
–  Release connectors -arrows- and unplug all connectors from the ignition coils at the same time.
  N28-10012
–  Remove ignition coils using puller -T40039-.
–  Remove the spark plugs with spanner -3122 B-.
–  Check compression pressure with compression tester -VAG 1763- and adapter -VAG 1763/6-.
  Note
Using the compression tester: → Operating instructions.
–  Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase.
Compression values:
  A28-0074
New pressure in barWear limit in bar Permissible difference between cylinders in bar
11,0 ... 14,07,03.0 (maximum)

–  Check spark plugs → Booklet301.
–  Install ignition coils with output stages → Rep. gr.28.
  Note
Events will have been stored in the memory because connectors have been unplugged. Interrogate and, if necessary, erase event memory after completing the check.
–  Read out the event memory of the engine control unit → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
