Valve guides: verification

Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Adjustment tool -VW 387-, please see Correspondence → Anchor

t	Gauge -VAS 6079-, see equivalent → Anchor

Procedure

–	Insert new valve into guide. Valve stem end must be flush with guide. The valve boreholes have different diameters: the inlet valves only fit in the the inlet guides and the exhaust valves only in the exhaust guide.

–	Measure the amount of sideways play.

Wear limit

Inlet valve guide	Exhaust valve guide
0.80 mm	0.80 mm

Note

t	If the wear limit is exceeded, redo the measurement using new valves. If the wear limit is still exceeded, replace the cylinder head

t	If a valve is to be replaced during a repair, use a new valve for the calculation.
