assembly overview
  Note
Oil the support and slide surfaces before carrying out assembly work.

1 - Circlip
2 - Piston pin
q   If it is difficult to move, heat the piston to 60 °C.
q   Removing and installing with the awl -10 14-
3 - Piston
q   Checking → Chapter
q   Mark installation position and cylinder number.
q   Arrow on piston crown points to pulley end
q   Install with piston ring compressor
4 - Compression rings
q   Offset gaps by 120°
q   Remove and fit compression rings using pliers adapted for piston rings
q   The mark „TOP“ must face towards piston crown
q   Checking ring gap → Chapter
q   Check the measured backlash between the circular grooves → Chapter
5 - Oil scraper rings
q   Carefully remove and install by hand the oil scraper rings made up of 3 parts
q   Checking ring gap → Chapter
q   The play between the rings and the grooves cannot be measured
6 - Conrod bolt
q   M8×1: 30 Nm and then turn 90° further
q   Renew
q   Oil threads and contact surface.
q   To measure radial play, tighten to the applicable torque, without retightening
7 - Conrod bearing cap
q   The conrod bearing cap only fits in one position and only on the appropriate conrod due to the breaking procedure (cracking) separating the cap from the conrod.
q   Before removing mark the cylinder assignment -A-
q   Fitting position: the marking -B- shows toward the belt pulley (if there is no marking, this must be made before removing)
8 - Bearing cap
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells.
q   Insert bearing shells centrally.
Check the radial play using a Plastigage:
q   New: 0.020 ... 0.060 mm
q   Wear limit: 0.090 mm
q   When measuring the radial play, do not rotate the crankshaft
9 - 27 Nm
q   Opening pressure of the overpressure valve: 1.8 ... 2.2 bar
10 - Oil spray jet
q   For cooling the piston
11 - Conrod
q   Replace only in sets
q   Mark cylinder allocation -A-
q   Fitting position: the marking -B- shows toward the belt pulley (if there is no marking, this must be made before removing)
q   Piston axial guided
