Safety precautions when working on the fuel system
  Caution
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to the cramped conditions:
t  All the various lines (e.g. fuel, coolant, refrigerant, vacuum and electrical wiring) must be installed so that their original positions are reproduced.
t  In order to avoid damage to the lines, ensure sufficient clearance for all moving or hot components.
When removing and installing the fuel level sender -G- or fuel pump (fuel delivery unit) from a full or partly full fuel tank, the following must be observed:
Remove the fuse of the fuel pump. Fuse installation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure. Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
t  Before beginning work, place the suction hose of an exhaust extraction system near the assembly opening.
t  If no exhaust gas extraction system is available, a radial fan with a displacement greater than 15 m3/h can be used providing that motor is not in air flow.
t  Avoid skin contact with the fuel! Use fuel resistant gloves!
