Valve guides: verification

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Universal dial gauge support -VW 387-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Dial gauge

Checking procedure

–	Insert a new valve into guide. The end of the valve stem must be flush with the guide. Due to the different diameters of the stems, fit the inlet valves and the exhaust valves only in the corresponding guides.

–	Determine amount of sideways play. Wear limit: 0.8 mm.

If the rock is excessive:

–	Replace the cylinder head.
