General notes on self-diagnosis
t  The engine control unit has a self-diagnosis capability. Before carrying out repairs and fault finding, the fault memory must be interrogated. Also, the low pressure hoses and connections must be checked (infiltrated air).
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).
t  A voltage of at least 11.5 V is required for proper operation of the electrical components.
t  Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and damage the Lambda probe.
t  The vehicles are fitted with a crash/fuel shut-off system. It reduces the danger of a vehicle fire after a crash as the fuel pump is switched off via the fuel pump relay.
t  It also achieves more comfort when starting the engine. When the driver's door is opened, the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds in order to build up pressure in the fuel system; always observe the relevant safety precautions → Chapter.
