Crankshaft - Components overview
1 - Bearing cap
q   For cylinder block (with oil groove)
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
2 - Pinions
q   For drive chain for oil pump
q   replace → Chapter
3 - Bearing cap
q   For bearing cap (without oil groove)
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
4 - Thrust washers
q   For bearing 3.
q   Different version for the engine block and bearing cap
q   Note attachment
5 - 65 Nm +1/4 turn further (90º)
q   replace
q   To measure the crankshaft radial play, tighten to 65 Nm, but not more
6 - Bearing cap
q   Bearing cap 1: Pulley side:
q   Bearing cap 3 with recesses for thrust washers
q   The retaining tabs for the engine half-bearings/bearing cap must be on the same side as the bearing
7 - Crankshaft
q   New axial play: 0,07 ... 0.17 mm; wear out limit: 0.37 mm
q   Check radial clearance with Plastigage
q   New radial play: 0,03 ... 0.08 mm; wear out limit: 0.17 mm
q   Do not rotate the crankshaft when checking the radial clearance
q   Crankshaft dimensions → Chapter.
q   For engine code BXE, a crankshaft with 4 balance weights is installed
