Engine and gearbox: Separate

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	counterhold -T20186-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Workshop crane

Requirements:

l	Engine/gearbox assembly removed and fixed on engine bracket -T20205-.

Operation process

–	Unscrew bolt -1- with gearbox fitted.

–	Pull the cover plate -2- off upwards.

Note

This is shown in the figure with the gearbox removed.

Vehicles with four wheel drive:

–	Extract bolts -1... 3- and remove the support for the angular gear.

All vehicles (continued):

–	Unscrew the bolts -1 … 8- on the flange between the engine and the gearbox.

–	Take out starter motor.

Note

The gearbox is shown in illustration with engine removed.

–	Place the support tool -T20186- on the gearbox, as shown in the illustration.

–	Carefully separate the gearbox from the engine, using the workshop crane.
