Oil pressure and oil pressure switch: check Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Tension tester -V.A.G 1527 B-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Auxiliary measuring tool -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor

Operation process l  The oil level is correct. l  Engine oil temperature: approx 80 °C.

Engine cover, version 1: –  Take out the oil dipstick -1- from its guide tube. –  Lift the engine cover on one side -arrows 2- and remove it forwards -arrow 3-. –  Replace the oil dipstick in the guide tube.

Engine cover, version 2: –  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove the air intake hose -arrow- between the lock carrier plate and the air filter housing.

–  Disconnect electrical connection -arrow-fromoil pressure switch -F1-. –  Remove oil pressure switch.

–  Connect the oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342- to the hole for the oil pressure switch. –  Screw oil pressure switch -2- into oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342-. Checking oil pressure switch –  Release the brown cable -1- from the oil pressure tester to earth (-). –  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527 B- with test leads from adapter set -VAG 1594C- to oil pressure switch and battery positive (+). l  The diode should not light. If the diode does light: –  Renew oil pressure switch. –  Start engine.   Note Note the tester and the diode during starting; the switch activation point may be exceeded during starting. l  At a pressure of 0.55 ... 0.85 bar, the diode should light up. If the LED does not light up: –  Renew oil pressure switch. Checking oil pressure –  Start the engine (engine oil temperature about 80 ºC) l  Oil pressure at engine idle: min. 0.8 bar. l  Minimum oil pressure at 2000 rpm: min. 2.0 bar. l  Oil pressure at higher engine speeds: 7.0 bar. max. If readings do not match specifications: pressure relief valve or oil pump defective. –  Renew the oil pump → Chapter.
