Timing belt transmission - general component overview
1 - Vibration damper
q   For ribbed belt pulley
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
2 - Cap
q   For vibration damper
3 - Special bolt - 10 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn) further
q   Replace.
q   only use original screws → Spare parts catalogue.
4 - Poly V-belt tensioning element
q   To slacken Poly-V belt rotate with spanner.
q   Lock tensioner with Retention tool -T20167-.
5 - 23 Nm
6 - Return roller screw
q   Replace.
q   There are different screws for vehicles with small or large engine support foot
q   Tightening torques: vehicles with small engine support → Fig.; vehicles with large engine support → Fig.
7 - Idler wheel
q   For the notched belt
8 - Bracket for ancillary mechanical units
q   Removing and fitting: vehicles with small engine support → Chapter; vehicles with large engine support → Chapter
9 - Collar
10 - 23 Nm
11 - Alternator
q   Removing and fitting → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27
q   To facilitate the positioning of the alternator push back slightly, the threaded bushes for securing bolts.
12 - 45 Nm
q   Fit with locking fluid; locking fluid → Parts catalogue
q   Observe tightening sequence → Anchor.
13 - Collar
q   2x
q   Make sure it fits well in the support
14 - 25 Nm
15 - Air conditioning compressor
q   Removing and fitting → Air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87
16 - Poly-V belt
q   Mark direction of rotation with chalk or felt pen before removing
q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   When mounting, check that it sits correctly in the pulleys.

Tightening torque for return roller - vehicles with small engine foot support
Screw -arrow- without interior thread
l  Tightening torques: tighten to 40 Nm and 90° (1/4 turn) retighten.

Screw -arrow- with interior thread to hold the engine support foot
l  Tightening torques: tighten to 90 Nm and 90° (1/4 turn) retighten.
