Topping up oil in Haldex coupling
Test prerequisites
l  Vehicle level.
l  Add high performance oil for Haldex clutches → Spare parts catalogue.
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Use filler device for Haldex coupling -VAS 6291A- to top up with oil.
–  Position a drip tray -VAS 6208- under final drive.
   
–  Unscrew oil filler plug -arrow-. (For illustration purposes here shown with final drive removed.)

–  Screw in the adapter -A- until the limit.
–  Connect elbow joint -B- and adapter -A-, making sure they engage.
–  Route hose above drive shaft.
l  Hose must not sag. It must emerge above left wheel on the vehicle.
–  Lower vehicle.

–  Please make sure that valve -arrow- is closed.
–  Screw on the oil tank -A- to the filling device for the Haldex clutch -VAS 6291A-.
–  Open the valve -arrow- and hold oil reservoir as shown in illustration.
The Haldex coupling will now be filled.
–  Lift the vehicle for a few minutes.
  Note
t  If oil has drained from the adapter -A-, the Haldex clutch has been filled correctly.

t  If no oil has drained out, lower the vehicle and repeat the filling process again.
–  If oil has run out, place oil reservoir below Haldex coupling (e.g. on a tool cart).
Excess oil will now flow back into the oil reservoir.
–  Remove the filling device for the Haldex clutch -VAS 6291A- once the oil does not flow back any more.
–  Screw in plug -arrow- and tighten. Tightening torque: 15 Nm

–  Then check oil level in Haldex coupling → Chapter.
–  Install bolt -arrow- with new seal and tighten to 15 Nm.
