| Before repairing the ABS system, the reason for the fault should be found using the self-diagnosis. |

| Disconnect battery earth strap before working on the ABS system. In vehicles with coded radio, take note of the code, if necessary, find it. |

| Before carrying out any soldering with an electric iron, disconnect the ABS control unit, this is also valid for all connections of the other control units. |

| Always bleed brake system with the -SAT 1150- filling and bleeding equipment whenever the system has been oponed → Chapter, Brake system: air bleeding (vehicles with and without ABS). |

| During the test drive make sure that the at least one braking action activates the ABS system (the pulsations should be felt in the brake pedal). |

| Work on the ABS system demands the highest levels of cleanliness; under no circumstances should auxilliary materials that contain mineral oils be used, such as oil, grease etc. |

| Before soldering connections they should be thouroughly cleaned , but do not use abrasive strong cleaning products such as brake cleaner, petrol, solvents or similar products. |

| Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them. |

| After separating the control unit from the hydraulic unit, cover the valves with the transport protection → Fig., Plug from repair kit. |

| If repairs cannot be completed in one session, all parts and components that are left open should be covered or stored with the greatest of care. (Plugs from repair kit Ref. no. -1 H0 698 311 A-) |

| Only take spares out of their packaging just before assembly. |

| Only use replacement parts which come in their original packaging. |

| If the system is open, do not use compressed air and do not move vehicle. |

| Make sure that brake fluid does not enter the connectors. |
