Removing
Removing
–  Obtain radio code on vehicles with coded radio.
–  Disconnect battery.
–  Remove coolant expansion tank and swing to side.
–  Draw off as much brake fluid as possible from brake fluid reservoir using a suction bottle.
–  Operate brake pedal and block or allow a second mechanic to operate the pedal.
–  Fit bleeder hose and bleeder bottle to the front left brake caliper bleeder screw and open bleeder screw.
–  Close front left bleeder screw.
   
–  Release control unit connector -arrow 1- and pull off -arrow 2-.
–  Place sufficient lint-free cloths under the control unit and hydraulic unit.
Ensure no brake fluid gets onto contacts.
–  Disconnect brake pipes on brake master cylinder and hydraulic unit and seal brake pipes and threaded holes with plugs from repair kit -1H0 698 311 A-.
–  Remove torx socket head bolt T25 from hydraulic unit bracket.
–  Remove hydraulic unit with control unit.
Removing control unit from hydraulic unit
–  Pull connector for hydraulic pump motor off control unit.

–  Remove bolts from control unit and pull control unit off.

When pulling off control unit, ensure that the hydraulic unit valve dome is not canted against the control unit solenoid valves.
Cover control unit magnetic coils with a lint-free cloth.
After separating control unit and hydraulic unit use transportation protection for valve dome.
