Drive shaft with constant velocity joint VL90 and VL100 - Assembly overview > < Remove the driveshaft with tripod type joint AAR2600i
Fit the driveshaft with tripod type joint AAR2600i
Fit the driveshaft with → tripod type joint AAR2600i
–  Insert the new securing ring in the groove of the joint pivot.
–  Ensure that the inner and outer cogs of the joint pivot and the gearbox coincide.
–  Hold the driveshaft by hand and insert it as far as possible into the joint casing.
–  Next, insert the complete half-shaft into the gearbox.
  Note
Never use hammers or similar tools!!
–  Check that the shaft is safely fitted in the gearbox by pulling on the joint casing in the opposite direction to the securing ring resistance.
To carry out the verification, only pull on the joint casing and not on the shaft.
–  Guide outer joint into wheel hub splines as far as possible.
–  Install lower noise insulation → Rep. gr.50.
   
–  Bolt the ball joint to the traverse swinging arm -arrows-.
  Note
Ensure that bellows are not damaged or twisted.
–  Tighten the bolt on the outer side of the drive shaft.
t  Hex bolt → Chapter
t  Twelve-point head bolt with ribbing → Chapter
t  Twelve-point head bolt without ribbing → Chapter
  Caution
During this step, vehicle must not be standing on its wheels.
The wheel bearing can be damaged by the weight of the vehicle if the bolt is loosened.

Distinctive features of the twelve-point head bolt with ribbing and the twelve-point head bolt without ribbing.
The twelve-point head bolts can be distinguished by the contact surfaces -arrow A- and -arrow B-.
I - Twelve-point head bolt with ribbing -arrow A-
II - Twelve-point head bolt without ribbing -arrow B-
–  Install wheel and tighten bolts to specified torque → Chapter.

t  Use new bolt.
70 Nm + 90°
Drive shaft to wheel hub „twelve-point head bolt without ribbing“
t  Use new bolt.
200 Nm + 180°
