Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pressure plate -VW 402-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Pressure die -VW 411-, see equivalency → Anchor
t  Die -VW 412-
t  Tube element -VW 415 A-
t  pressure tool -VW 434-
t  attachment tool -VW 792-
t  attachment tool -3301/4-
   
1  - Wheel bearing housing
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   The preseal -arrow- should not rub against the wheel bearing/wheel hub.
q   Do not remove additional seal
2  - Guard plate
3  - Wheel bearing/wheel hub unit
q   Does not always have to be renewed
q   If the wheel bearing/wheel hub can be pulled out manually from the wheel bearing housing, the wheel bearing is okay and can be reused.
q   If it is not possible to pull out manually, replace wheel bearing/wheel hub.
q   Always replace completely
4  - Bolt.
q   → Item,
q   Always replace.
5  - Torx screw
q   Tightening torque: 10 Nm
6  - Bonded rubber bush
q   Pressing off → Fig.
q   Pressing on → Fig.

   
Press out the bonded rubber bush
–  Press rubber metal bearing out in one pass.
  Note
Hold the wheel bearing housing while releasing.

Installing bonded rubber bush
–  Clean the bearing seat in the wheel bearing housing.
–  Apply lubricating grease G 294 421 A1 diluted with water at a ratio of 1:100 to the entire surface of the rubber bush.
–  Install rubber metal bearing -A- so that the wider collar points downward -arrow-.

–  Apply uniform pressure on the rubber metal bearing in the wheel bearing unit till its collar lies on the installation equipment -VW 792- and is compressed. (considerable increase in pressure).
  Note
t  If the pressing-in process is interrupted, the rubber swells and the rubber metal bearing cannot be pressed in without being damaged.
t  Hold the wheel bearing housing while pressing in.

–  Press bush back rubber metal bearing until dimension a = 10 ± 0.8 mm is obtained.
