Removing and fitting the steering wheel (vehicles with airbag until 09.00) > < Airbag, steering wheel and steering column

  Caution
Before carrying out any work on the electrical system and disassembly of the steering wheel, the following operations should be carried out:
t  Connect the earth connection to the battery.
t  Place the wheels facing forwards.
If these instructions are not followed, the airbag may fail later!
–  Remove the airbag unit from the driver side → Chapter.
–  Remove the lower part of the covering -6- for the steering column combination switch.
–  Separate the rubber foam tube -7- from the connector -8- and detach the connector.
–  Centre the steering wheel .
–  Remove the hexagonal nut with collar-4- and remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
The retractor ring and the friction ring -5- are left on the steering wheel.
