Removing
Removing
The steering mount and the steering column can only be disassembled if they are removed from the vehicle.
Disassemble the steering mount → Chapter
To disassemble and assemble the steering column steering mount.
Secure the steering mount on a bench vice using protection clamps for the following operations.
–  Multiple cog adaptor: removing and fitting → Chapter.
–  Release the cable bracket using a screwdriver, from the tube in the steering column.
   
–  Extract the three bolts -arrow- securing the combination switch to the steering column.
–  Separate the combination switch from the steering column.

–  Extract the bolt -1- attaching the steering lock body to the steering mount.
–  Remove the steering lock body from the steering mount in the direction indicated by the -arrow-.
–  Loosen the springs -arrow- using point pliers.

–  Remove the nut from the securing plate -1- and remove the plate -2- from the support.

–  Remove the attachment bolt -1- from (left hand trapezoidal thread) from the operation lever.
–  At the same time as removing the bolt -1- separate the pressure socket -2-, the plates -3- and the washers.
–  Remove the clutch pedal bracket from the steering mount.
–  Fit the steering column in the vice, using the protection clamp.

–  Release the securing spring -arrow- and separate the two parts of the steering mount.

–  Screw in the tool -T20123- with the punch -U-40087- by the upper part of the steering column.
–  Tap alternatively and pull forcefully until the limit on the steering column is reached.
From this moment the securing spring locks preventing separation of the two parts.

–  Release the securing spring -arrow- through the hole located on the upper part of the steering mount -1- gently tapping on this.
–  Secure the steering column.
–  Separate the two parts of the steering column.
–  Extract the rubber ring and the securing spring from the lower part of the steering column.
–  Extract the lower part of the steering column from the lower part of the steering mount.
–  Expel the lower socket of the steering column.
