Vane pump supply pressure: checking
Vane pump supply pressure: checking
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hose clamps -3094-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Power steering tester -V.A.G 1402-
t  Adapters -V.A.G 1402/3-

–  Disconnect the supply and return fuel lines with the -3094- hose clamp.
–  Thread off pressure hose from the vane pump.
–  Connect the adapter -V.A.G 1402/3- at the location of the banjo bolt on the vane pump.
–  Connect the hose of the test device for the power steering -V.A.G 1402- to the adapter -V.A.G 1402/3- (Adapter varies depending on the pump version).
–  Close cut-off valve on pressure gauge (lever pointing to the left).
–  Remove the hose clamps -3094-.
  Note
t  Observe the following in order to avoid damage to the pump:
t  When executing the test, the cut-off valve of the manometer must not remain closed for longer than 10 seconds.
t  Start the engine, do not race and keep in idling.
t  Immediately after starting the engine, read off the pump pressure in idle (if necessary, the reading should be done by a second mechanic).
t  As the pressure drops in the course of the test, the highest displayed pressure is taken into consideration.
–  Start the engine and if necessary supplement the fluid level in the reservoir.
–  Read off gauge pressure with engine running at idling speed (measurement must not take longer than 10 seconds).
Pump pressure specification

EnginePump pressure (bar)
Vehicles with petrol engine 110 ... 130
Diesel engines110 ... 130

Replace power steering pump if specified value is not obtained.
–  Switch off the engine.
–  Remove the pressure gauge.
–  Connect the pressure line with the banjo bolt to the vane pump.
–  Check hydraulic fluid level → Chapter.
–  Check steering system for leaks → Chapter.
–  Vent the steering system. → Chapter
