Headlamps: Adjusting > < Gas discharge lamp of the headlight: Replace.

Gas discharge bulb: Replace.

  WARNING
Information on the use and the safety of the gas discharge lamps must be observed → Chapter
  Caution
t  When fitting the gas discharge lamp , be careful not to touch the glass bulb with fingers. Greasy marks left by fingers on the bulb will evaporate on switching on the gas discharge lamp. Then the bulb will become opaque.
t  Do not apply mechanical force to the glass bulb of the gas discharge lamp . The glass bulb is very delicate and is under high pressure.
  Note
t  It is possible to check the left gas discharge bulb -L13- and right gas discharge bulb -L14- via diagnosis function of the actuators of the on-board vehicle electrical system control unit -J519-.
t  The figures show how to change the left gas discharge headlight lamp.
t  Replacing the right gas discharge headlight lamp -L14- is done the same way.
Removing
–  Disconnect ignition and all electrical loads, and remove ignition key.
   
–  Remove headlight → Chapter.

–  Remove the cover -2- by turning to the left.

–  Disconnect the electric connector -arrow- and place aside.

–  Remove the gas discharge lampe -1- from the lamp holder by turning anitclockwise -arrow-.
Lamp type D1S, 35 W
Fitting .
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
  Caution
t  When fitting the gas discharge lamp , be careful not to touch the glass bulb with fingers. Greasy marks left by fingers on the bulb will evaporate on switching on the gas discharge lamp. Then the bulb will become opaque.
t  Do not apply mechanical force to the glass bulb of the gas discharge lamp . The glass bulb is very delicate and is under high pressure.
–  Check headlight functions.
–  Check the adjustment of the headlamp and adjust the headlamp when necessary „maintenance to be considered precisely“; → Booklet701.
  Note
When removing or adapting a headlight with gas discharge lamp from or to the bodywork, after reinstalling or adjusting, the basic settings of the headlight must always be carried out and the headlight should be adjusted „maintenance to be considered precisely“ → Booklet701.
