Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X- connecting
  Note
Current instructions on the use of the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 505X- should be observed. These can be viewed by selecting the keys „Administration“ and „Instruction manual“.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X-
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/6A- (5 m)
  E97-10509
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/5A- (3 m)
  Note
For diagnosis, only the above-mentioned cables should be used, as only these are fitted with CAN-Bus lines and allow a CAN-Bus diagnosis or communication via CAN-Bus .
Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X- connecting:
–  Apply handbrake.
–  In vehicles with automatic gearbox, set selector lever in position „P“ or „N“.

–  In vehicles with manual gearbox put the gear lever in neutral.
–  With ignition switched off, connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X- to the vehicle diagnosis connector -A-using the diagnostic wire -VAS 5051/6A-.
–  switch ignition on.
–  Switch off all electrical components.
  Note
All other vehicle diagnosis, testing and information systems or diagnosis and information systems in Service are connected similarly, in the order described above.
