Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X-: connecting

Observe current operating instructions for vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 505X- (displayed when selecting „Administration“ and „User handbook“).
Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/6A- (5 m)

t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/5A- (3 m)
  Note
Only these cables are to be used for diagnosis, as they are the only ones fitted with CAN wiring and therefore allowing CAN diagnosis and/or CAN communication.
Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X- connecting:
–  Apply handbrake.
–  Vehicles with manual gearbox, move gear lever to neutral position.

–  Position of diagnostic connection; seen from driver's seat, the connection is located above the left knee.
–  With ignition switched off, connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System -VAS 505X- to the vehicle diagnosis connector -arrow-using the diagnostic wire -VAS 5051/6A-.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Switch off all electrical equipment.
  Note
All other and the following vehicle diagnosis, testing and information systems or vehicle diagnosis and service information systems are connected accordingly in the sequence described above.
