Radio / navigation system Media System
  Note
t  It is essential to be familiar with the operation and handling of the navigation/radio system when resolving customer complaints.
t  Additional information → Instruction manuals → No.117
t  It is not necessary to activate the anti-theft code of the radio/navigation installed on the Altea, Toledo or Altea XL as this has already been done.
t  In case of repair work, or fault location → Vehicle diagnostic tester → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
t  The turn angle sensor is adjusted conforming to the fitting position of the unit in the vehicle in order to assure the correct functioning of the navigation system. For this, always check the ET number (spare) when a sensor is changed. Bad installation will result in navigation system malfunction.
t  If the battery is re-connected, the vehicle equipment must be checked (radio, clock, electrical comfort system etc.), following the instructions in the Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
t  When using magnetic aerials on the roof of the vehicle, there is a risk that malfunctions occur to the compass module resulting from the effects of the magnet and prolonged magnetisation of the vehicle roof. In the event of complaint about inaccurate or incorrect direction of indication of the compass, confirm with the customer before commencing repair work as to whether a magnetic aerial has been used.
  Caution
Before working on the electrical system, disconnect the battery earth strap.
