| The gearbox must not be in emergency operation mode. |

| Vehicle must be horizontal. |

| Selector lever is in “P”, engine idling. |

| The air conditioning and heating are off. |

| Diagnosis centre -VAS 5051B- or the central diagnosis -VAS 5052- connected, vehicle self-diagnosis and vehicle system “02 - Gearbox electronics” selected. |

| The temperature of the ATF must not be more than 30ºC when beginning the test; if necessary, allow the gearbox to cool down first. |

| The ATF temperature is read on the diagnosis centre -VAS 5051B- or the central diagnosis -VAS 5052-. |

| The level of ATF will vary with the temperature of the Fluid. |

| If the ATF lever is measured at a very low temperature then the topping up will be excessive. |

| If the ATF lever is measured at a high temperature then the topping up will be insufficient. |

| Both an excessive or an insufficient topping up of ATF will damage the operation of the gearbox. |

| For the 001 automatic gearbox, only the ATF supplied as spare must be used. Other oils cause problems or even faults in the gearbox; ATF spare number → Parts catalogue. |
