Safety precautions when working on the airbag system
l  Testing, assembly and repair work should only be carried out by specialised personnel
l  When working on the airbag system, the battery earth strap must be removed. After disconnecting the battery, it is not necessary to wait before continuing work. When connecting the Airbag system to a power supply, nobody should be inside the vehicle.
l  Before coming into contact with the airbag unit, the mechanic should eliminate any electrostatic charge accumulated by touching a metal object connected to earth (e.g. a drainpipe, heating pipe or a metal support)
l  The airbag units should be fitted as soon as they are removed from their transportation box.
l  If work has to be stopped, the airbag unit should be replaced in its transportation box again.
l  The airbag unit must not be left lying around unattended.
l  Dismantled airbag units should be kept with their padded surface facing upwards.
l  Airbag units that have fallen on a hard surface or show signs of damage cannot be refitted.
l  Storage and transportation should be made in accordance with the regulations concerning explosive materials.
l  Only use original upholstering fabric certified for side impact airbags (specified on the airbag).
l  On fitting the seat back upholstery, make sure that the seam in the side airbag area is straight.
l  All the upholstery staples must be replaced.
l  Only use genuine upholstery staples.
l  If the fabric in the side impact airbag area is damaged (torn, burnt, etc.), the upholstery should be replaced for greater safety.
