t | Removing |
– | Unscrew the bolt -1-. |
– | Remove nut -5- and bolt -3-. |
– | Tip the seat forwards and, if necessary, remove the steering wheel. |
t | Removing and installing steering wheel → Rep. gr.48 |

Note
To avoid unnecessary repair costs, check the electrical/electronic components and wiring prior to further removal of the seat. |
– | Perform the following checks: |
t | Check fuse → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations. |
t | Check voltage at connector point and perform Fault Finding if necessary → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations |
t | Check voltage at control unit → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations. |
t | Check the voltage of the seat longitudinal adjustment electric motor -V288- → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations |
– | If the fuse is defective: Renew fuse → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations. |
– | If there is no voltage at the connector point: Repair or replace the wire → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations. |
With defective control unit |
– | Replace the control unit → Chapter. |
With malfunction of the electric motor for longitudinal seat adjustment -V288- |
– | Disconnect the earth wire at the battery → Rep. gr.27 |
– | Unscrew the screws -6- (4x). |

– | Disconnect the connector -8- from the electric motor for longitudinal seat adjustment -V288-. |
– | Move both seat guides until the screws -2- can be seen. |
– | Unscrew the 2 screws -2- (4x). |
– | Unplug connectors → Chapter. |
– | Disconnect airbag adapter → Chapter. |
– | Lift front seat out of vehicle with the assistance of a second mechanic. |
– | Separate the lower seat frame -7- and the upper seat frame -4- from the seat bench → Chapter. |
