–  Separate the thermal windscreen connections and press the flat feet against the glass.
–  Remove the tailgate lining → Tailgate lining: removing and fitting; Rep. Gr.70
–  Extract the arm of the rear window wiper → Fitting the rear window wiper; Rep. Gr.92
   
–  Release the sealing lip from the glass flange using the plastic wedge and apply or spray sliding agent (cleaning solution).
–  Using the small tube -1- fit the cutting wire on the glass flange.

–  Pass the upholstery needle -2- using the sleeve -1- under the sealing lip -3- and pierce the glue cord.
The upholstery needle should be taken as close as possible to the glass to avoid damaging the filament of the rear window heating.
–  Unscrew the handle and thread the thread or cutting wire in the needle.
–  Pull one end of the cutting wire into the vehicle interior and secure it to the spool (using pliers and protection gloves).
–  Insert the other end of the wire also into the interior and retain it with the cabling tool -VAG 1351/1-. Move the needle so that the wire is doubled over some centimetres.

–  Fit the spool of the removal tool -VAG 1474B- in the position -I- and release the glass by rolling the wire into the spool.
–  Move the corresponding spool and free, cutting the glass.
–  During the cut, press the cutting wire against the glass with the lever, to obtain space in the glass flange.
