Renewing bearings „D“ and „E“ for pulley set „I“ Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Thrust piece -VW 432-

t  Press tool -3158-

t  Assembly sleeve -T40088/2- of the assembly device -T40088-

Detaching l  Intermediate housing removed → Chapter –  Place intermediate housing down on two wooden blocks -arrows- to prevent damage to the selector shaft and sealing surface.

–  Remove circlip -arrow-.

–  Turn intermediate housing over. –  Drive out bearings „D“ and „E“ for pulley set „I“ in direction of -arrow- using thrust piece -VW 432-.

Installing –  Place intermediate housing down on two wooden blocks -arrows- to prevent damage to the selector shaft and sealing surface. l  Bearing „E“ must always be renewed after removal.

–  Insert a new bearing „E“ (ball bearing for pulley set „I“) -item 1- in the intermediate housing. l  Oil grooves in outer bearing race face upwards.

–  Drive in the bearing „E“ (ball bearing for pulley set „I“) as far as it will go using the sleeve -T40088/2- of the assembly device -T40088- and the press sleeve -3158--arrow-.

–  Insert bearing „D“-item 1- (roller bearing for pulley set „I“) in the intermediate housing. l  Fitting position: Side with lettering faces upwards.   Note

Different bearings are fitted, depending on the version: A -  Bearing „D“ with inner race B -  Bearing „D“ without inner race

–  Drive in the bearing „D“ (roller bearing for pulley set „I“) as far as it will go using the sleeve -T40088/2- of the assembly device -T40088- and the press sleeve -3158--arrow-.

–  Fit circlip -arrow- (press home if necessary).
